Rezūm®

Therapy for benign prostate enlargement

Rezūm water vapor therapy is a gentle and minimally invasive option for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It uses the energy stored in water vapor to treat the excess prostate tissue that causes the symptoms of BPH without the need for additional medication. Studies suggest that this treatment has no adverse effects on the patient's erectile function and allows the patient to return to their usual quality of life shortly after the procedure.

The Optilume method offered by uro-maintaunus, your urological center in the Rhine-Main region, is an alternative to traditional urethral surgery, such as urethroplasty with the patient's own oral mucosa or Mucocell (urethroplasty) and urethral slitting (urethrotomy). uro-maintaunus is one of the few practices in the whole of Germany to offer this innovative method and is available for the Optilume method.

This effective treatment method relieves symptoms immediately and more than 75% of patients treated achieve a permanent cure for urethral stricture.

Men’s health

We understand that the decline in mental and physical efficiency, including sexual activity, can be concerning. However, these effects can often be addressed and even prevented. During a personalized consultation, we can discuss appropriate examinations and therapeutic methods tailored to your needs, which may have positive effects on the aging process.

Our practice is committed to providing a warm and friendly atmosphere where you can feel comfortable and at ease. We maintain the highest standards by utilizing state-of-the-art instruments and devices, enabling us to conduct thorough examinations and deliver top-notch treatment. Additionally, we have access to the latest technologies through our own facilities and collaborations. Our services include various specialized analytical methods such as flexible cystoscopy, ultrasounds (using the duplex method), and urodynamics.

No scalpel vasectomy – minimal invasive sterilisation

A no scalpel vasectomy offers several advantages over a conventional vasectomy. This procedure is faster, less painful, and has a lower risk of complications, such as infection. The use of local anesthesia ensures the patient’s comfort during the process. Unlike a conventional vasectomy, no sharp instruments are involved, and there is no cutting of the skin or tubes. Instead, a special instrument creates a small single split in the skin to access and disconnect both tubes.

Immediately after the operation, patients typically experience no pain. There are no long-term consequences on the penis or testicles, and sexual abilities and hormonal status remain unaffected. Erection and ejaculation continue as usual after the procedure. Overall, a no scalpel vasectomy provides a safe and effective method of permanent contraception.

Erectile dysfunction or impotence

Erectile dysfunction can occur in any age group, but it significantly increases from the age of 40 onwards, affecting approximately 30% of 60-year-olds and about 50% of 70-year-olds.
Psychological factors, surgeries, and various medical conditions such as vascular diseases, hypertension, hormone deficiency, diabetes, and cancer can lead to erectile dysfunction. Conversely, the occurrence of erectile dysfunction can be an initial indication of other underlying disorders, such as heart diseases.

In a specialized clinic, we dedicate ourselves to a comprehensive investigation of the diverse causes of erectile dysfunction.

The therapeutic options for impotence depend on the results of the diagnostics. Our diagnostics include the following steps:

• Detailed discussion to capture all risk diseases and medications
• Application of specific and validated questionnaires
• Conducting a comprehensive physical examination
• Laboratory diagnostics and hormone assessment
• Penile vascular function test with color Doppler sonography of the penile arteries
• Complete ultrasound diagnostics of all accessible abdominal and pelvic organs.

Therapeutic options for erectile dysfunction

Only through this approach can we offer our patients targeted treatment using modern possibilities, ranging from medical and technical treatments to surgical procedures.
The spectrum of therapies for impotence is diverse and is fully covered by our team of physicians. The most important forms of therapy include:
• Oral medication therapy
• Hormone replacement therapy
• Intracavernosal injection therapy
• Intraurethral application of medications
• Vacuum pump therapy
• Plastic penile surgery for penile deformities
• Implantation of hydraulic and bendable penile prostheses.
